American Legion Gaming stands out by integrating community support, mental health resources, and career development into a cohesive program tailored specifically for veterans and active-duty service members
These communities offer various ways for veterans to connect through gaming, providing social support, camaraderie, and a sense of belonging. Whether through dedicated veteran gaming communities or broader gaming platforms with veteran-focused initiatives, these groups help foster connection and support for veterans.
Much like the Call of Duty Endowment helps connect veterans to jobs, the American Legion has programs to assist veterans in finding employment and filing for educational and health benefits

American Legion Gaming addresses the isolation and mental health challenges veterans face by providing a platform for connection and stress relief through gaming. The Communicator is a platform dedicated to gaming for veterans, by veterans. We believe gaming can be a powerful connector, helping you build relationships with friends, family, and community.
Our focus is on using gaming to relieve stress, foster connections, and develop character. We offer current gaming news, tutorials, and game labs to help you get the most out of your gaming experience.
Our community fosters meaningful relationships and mutual support, creating a strong sense of belonging. We also leverage gaming skills for career opportunities in the growing esports and gaming industries, providing resources and support for veterans' career transitions. Additionally, gaming improves cognitive function and offers a structured, goal-oriented activity that promotes well-being. Overall, we aim to enhance mental health, build community, create career opportunities, and improve the quality of life for veterans.
We help curate games that have been shown to produce results.
1. Tetris: Studies have shown that playing Tetris may decrease PTSD
2. World of Warcraft can be beneficial for veterans transitioning to civilian life.
3. Mass Effect and Resident Evil 4: providing solace and escape for veterans
4. First-Person Shooter (FPS) games can improve attention, visual short-term memory, spatial cognition, decision-making, planning, and communication.
Gaming communities can provide a sense of connection and support for veterans in several ways
1. Shared Interests and Experiences:
2. Social Interaction and Camaraderie
3. Support and Understanding
4. Structured Environment
5. Mental Health Benefits
